Alfa Romeo’s new SUV incorporates NFTs!

Lamborghini, Ferrari and now the Italian automaker Alfa Romeo have all incorporated or planning to incorporate NFTs into their systems and business plans. This is simply because everyone is finding the added value to their companies and to their interaction with fans and clients through this technology. Recently, Alfa Romeo announced that it will be integrating NFTs into its upcoming new Tonale electric-hybrid SUV.

Tonale NFT!

In a recent update, Stellantis, the company which owns Alfa Romeo, stated that with the new NFT addition, the car can be certified upon purchase to its owner, data will continue to be stored and recorded, and the fact that the vehicle has been well maintained can also be certified. All of this is to be done through NFTs and the blockchain technology. However, in order to benefit from this feature, services must be provided by a certified Alfa Romeo dealer.

The head of marketing and communications at Stellantis, Francesco Calcara, states and we quote, “Digitalization is a key enabler of our metamorphosis. Tonale is the first car ever to keep a blockchain, non-fungible token. NFTs are based on the same distributed information logic that protects your Bitcoin. It records all data on the blockchain."

How does the company’s future look like?

By the year 2027, the company aims to only manufacture and sell electric-hybrid SUVs. For more than 110 years, the brand has been selling high-end luxury cars with traditional internal combustion engines. However, now is the time to move forward and look towards the future, and there, you’ll only find eco-friendly solutions, technological advancements, and well, NFTs!

Larry Dominique, head of the company's North American branch, states that the company is working on plans for 2025 during which they will be introducing the BEV, or the battery electric vehicle, along with five replacement or new cars. He says, and we quote, “Everything from that day forward will be pure BEV. By end of 2027 ... I won't be selling any more internal combustion engine vehicles at all." He continues to say, “It's true, product drives brands and, and our products that we have are great, they're amazing, but because they're limited vehicles in a limited number of segments, just not enough people are looking at it. Hopefully with Tonale, we'll address that."
