Coinbase is tapping into NFTs!

Initially, Coinbase is a secure blockchain platform which allows its users to exchange, buy, sell or store cryptocurrencies. However, as you may all know by now, blockchain and crypto isn’t only about the currencies, coins and tokens! That is why Coinbase team has decided to take their crypto services to another level through the release of their very own NFT marketplace, where users can mint, explore, buy or sell NFTs!

Soon!

In a statement on their official website, Coinbase announced the debuting of “Coinbase NFT”, with all NFTs operating on the ERC-721 and ERC-1155 standards, but with plans to upgrade to multi-chain support later on. The title is “Create, Connect, Collect. Coming soon. Join the waitlist to get early access”. A clever way to FOMO their community! However, they did not mention nor clarify the release date. But rather, decided to stick to coming soon! On the website also, Coinbase mentioned that they will also provide users with the opportunity to converse, discover and socialize with unique features. They also stated that the platform is decentralize and the design will be “highly intuitive”.

On another note, one of Coinbase’s spokesperson said, and we quote, “Coinbase NFT will help creators, collectors, and fans build community, which aligns with Coinbase’s mission of increasing economic freedom and bringing crypto to more people, in new, exciting and accessible ways. In the same way we helped people access Bitcoin for the first time in a trusted, easy way — we need to do the same for the decentralized cryptoeconomy. There is so much cool innovation happening in crypto — and we want to bring that to our customers.”

Did you know this?

Coinbase’s CEO, Brian Armstrong, and back in April, debuted and sold electronic music NFT collection along with DJ DAVI on Zora. He also talks about NFTs, and we quote, “There’s a lot of NFT praise happening right now. Generally, I am a fan of NFTs. It’s really cool that it’s making it possible for artists to get paid. It’s making it possible for artists to have a direct relationship with their fans (as well).”
