NFTs are coming to Instagram soon!

A while back, Zuckerberg, announced that Meta, or Facebook and Instagram, is joining in on the blockchain craze. He talked about the metaverse and how they’re looking forward to spend billions of dollars in order for this plan to become in execution phase. However, there wasn’t any elaboration nor timeline. Today, Mark reassured his community that NFTs are being incorporated into the renowned social media platforms, specifically Instagram, and very soon.

He said, and we quote, “I would hope that the clothing that your avatar is wearing in the Metaverse can be minted as an NFT and you can take it between different places.”

There are some technical challenges to tackle first!

Yes! This is what Zuckerberg told SXSW. He said that there are some challenges that need to be tackled before Instagram incorporates NFTs, but it’s in the “near term”, as he says. He states, and we quote, “We are working on bringing NFTs to Instagram in the near term. I’m not ready to announce exactly what that’s going to be today, but, over the next several months, the ability to bring some of your NFTs in, and hopefully over time be able to mint things within that environment.”

Zuckerberg isn’t the only Meta personnel talking about this. Adam Mosseri, who is the head of Instagram, also says that NFTs are being explored by the team actively! He says, and we quote, “I think it’s an interesting place that we can play and also to hopefully help creators.” We can’t wait to see what Meta has to unveil when it comes to this vast world!
